Ashtanga Yoga - Power yoga - Vinyasa Yoga


Ashtanga Yoga, for many the most complex, difficult and demanding form of yoga exercise and also the most beautiful and rich benefits. 




We achieve an overall improvement in fitness, increase our power and reach an enviable flexibility soon enough with the commitment to regular exercise. 
Nevertheless, above all, breathing exercise and therefore very cordial aerobic exercise .


Designed and inspired by Pattabhi Jois consists of six workouts with full instructions and precise details of every move each turn, each Asana combined with the breath of ashtanga unjiaja even know and most of the body should direct our gaze at each position called Drishtis. 


Each exercise is a difficult exercise in connection with a Vinyasa next thus creating flow or exercise. In ashtanga yoga have their eyes always open, that does not mean that there is no concentration, just learn to be able to concentrate into the flow of the program and with open eyes. 
Add in the exercise along with the breath to activate the first two bandas opposed to Hatha yoga in which the bandas applied for holding breath. 


The application of the bandas adds to the body temperature and increases the concentration to be able to achieve the great flexibility and convenience that calls the program on course. 
Please note that only few people manage to exercise  the third series of ashtanga yoga. 

The exercise program lasts two hours, to an accuracy of 100 up to 110 minutes of intense exercise and 10 minutes relaxation in lying position relaxation of yoga. 
In my opinion this is the most important and should be respected, even if for each Asana do a much easier variation , it is important to the entire program and to breathe for two hours in the way of ashtanga. It is not unlikely at the beginning to find that  the breathing is more difficult than the exercise .

In my opinion you do ashtanga yoga when you do the whole program, not when just choose some items from ashtanga yoga and putting in random order. Not when you give an ashtanga yoga your own interpretation as to how to get in standing positions. Not if you do confuse the right to the left site . You even don’t do yoga if you do not breathe on a whole program, 
even with a simple breathing .
Not if you do not connect the Asana at list with an easy Vinyasa modification . Not doing ashtanga because just at the  start the class make a reference to Pattabhi Jois. 



You don’t do ashtanga yoga if you start with only 3 sun salutations , you must do 5 +5 ,if you get tired make a brake and breathe than continue but you have to do 5 + 5 .

The challenge of Ashtanga Yoga is applying correctly the breathing and concentration to control body temperature, with Asana and next Asana to be in a continuous flow to you with each inhalation  to apply all your strength in the muscle groups required by each position with each exhalation  just to relax those muscles. 
So you work within each Asana to go a little further down with each breath and relax each exhalation . 


When you get this balance and smooth flow of the program able to feel that the position gets more comfortable, improving constantly, the whole program exits without realizing it, enjoy it, have managed to open your breathing ability , have trained all your body, you strengthen all your muscles while you relax ligaments muscles just enough to be flexible , you have passed the concentration  on your body for almost two hours, you do the whole program of Ashtanga Yoga you are glad you feel beautiful. 


Ashtanga yoga, described as an athletic form of yoga exercise. That is correct in my opinion, does not mean that it is only for athletes in general or only for those who active in sports. 



Unlike just about anyone who does not exercise at all and wants to change his routine, for him asthanga yoga is definitely a big challenge will be particularly difficult in the beginning, you will need perseverance, great effort and more insistence, again and again ... ashtanga results are visible, they come very quickly with regular exercise is needed 4 to 6 times a week exercise, in a few weeks have changed everything ,it is like a miracle, how quickly you get on the progress doing regular the exercise.

Please note that ashtanga yoga for all who try, is in principle very difficult, even for other style yoga teachers .


Differences between Ashtanga Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga
In Vinyasa Yoga are two different ways of doing .




A . Gentle vinyasa flow - relaxing and therapeutic yoga exercises connected with breathing and movement.
Comes mainly from the Krishnamacharya and TKV Desikachar.
The course always begins with sun salutations to warm up the body , not connected  with strength like in ashtanga yoga more relaxed  , there are many variations, do it six times or multiples of six times.


The exercise program designed by the teacher through the lesson as intuition, he never do exactly the same program. We start with standing poses ,standing balances, followed low balances, seated exercises, flexibility for joints, body back stretches ,body back bends  ,  twists and finally inverted poses.
We do exercises on both sides first on the right side after left.


The basic rule in the whole program is trying to choose the order Asana  one after another to affect different parts of the body. We do not set similar exercises in a row one after another. This only happens on backward bends section (cobra, locust, bow), which is usually in that order . Using different variations for each and ever day.

To have therapeutic effects for the body the theory says the 
exercise program should include after a forward bend a backward stretch. 
In general follows an Asana with different effects on the body than the last so far it is possible.
At this point remember that many Asana that seem to look similar effect completely different to the body. Sometimes even a different breathing can change a asana . 


Sometimes in gentle yoga flow , a very experienced teacher does in the standing section of the program , 5-10 similar poses first to the right side of the body ,than completing this circle of poses doing it to the left side .
That is done only for specific reasons and needs of this class and only in gentle flow . Not in dynamic , power vinyasa flow because it is very hard for the body to do up to 10 similar poses to one site each after the other , that would built a harder exercise for the body than ashtanga yoga .



B. dynamic vinyasa flow - exercise with strength and movement - was following the ashtanga yoga so it  has an important effect from Pattabhi Jois teaching .
It starts normally with the sun salutations from ashtanga yoga where we  do 5 +5 combined with unjiaja breathing or a easier variation of the ashtanga unjiaja breath .  

The exercise program based on the principles of gentle flow , different asana is following ,we do not similar series of exercises such as ashtanga yoga. So the program is easier for the practitioner, it is designed to be easier for the body and requires less , offers more flexibility and a  slim  body type . Ashtanga yoga is offering more strength training and a more athletically body.




Ashtanga yoga is designed to be more difficult and demanding for the practitioner exercise program is given with every detail and practiced the same for each day over 2 years , for learning the body to do each and every pose perfect using all muscle groups to move and relax on each asana .


H Vinyasa Yoga requires more from the teacher, to do well, which should have the knowledge and experience to design the exercise program according to needs of the classes . Using his instinct and talent to know to feel how the class is following or if not and to modify in the class the program , to open up the students to more flexibility .

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ASHTANGA YOGA AND POWER YOGA - A DESCRIPTION OF POWER YOGA.






Power Yoga
Sports form of Yoga Asanas exercise which operate with power.
In order to work out the whole body and to achieve quick and visible results, it offers great flexibility and strength, the exercise program usually lasts 90 minutes after exercise gives a feeling like having being  exercised or having done a work out.

Occurred around 1995 in America for the first time a name was originally the 'power yoga' to highlight the ashtanga yoga by Beryl Bender Birch wrote about books and enjoyed great success.
Soon after came the Power Yoga presented by several different teachers like the exercise by ashtanga yoga.
The best known is the Baron Baptiste started as a trainer worked later with the power yoga wrote several books on the market in many countries, and Bryan Kest.


It contains similar Asana to ashtanga yoga . The exercise program is not fixed and chosen by the teacher in class often contains exercises from the first and second series of ashtanga.  Usually a power yoga class begins with only 3 sun salutations, all program and the Vinyasas are done in slower tempo than in the ashtanga yoga  practice .


A program with more power and longer holding of the asana  up to 10 breaths. So a power yoga program includes round to the half Asana in a class than ashtanga yoga .


Concentrating on the repeated sound from the Ujjayi breathing ,witch produce a sound that is a mantra .Trying to hear your breathing becoming louder and clear so adding more strength and power into the breath and that turns the exercise automatically to a more powerful . 


For a time there was a tendency to combine a power yoga class with loud music with lots of bass to the music drifted in putting power in the exercise, I think that stopped now because none can hear the teacher in the class .




In class the teacher wants to see an exercise with strength and strong stretches in each Asana until you reach your limits . Yes at power yoga every strech is aloud no brakes ever from the teacher. Allowed almost all of those prohibited by the rule in classical Hatha Yoga ,try each to put all your strength and can be pressed as many times helps the teacher with his hands to reach or surpass your limits.



Yes, all over the world, Power Yoga has been accused many times by many of the above, it is not yoga . I do not have this effect at all, maybe I would venture to say that it does not matter so much the opinion of all those who accuse the power yoga, probably did it wrong, and most important is the opinion of those who like to love exercise and are certainly many believe that Power Yoga is taught throughout the whole Western world more than any other yoga style and definitely has great potential for further growth.



The power yoga is like a gateway entrance to yoga , is more popular with visible benefits for a shapely and athletic body, the world is just looking to Power Yoga, I do not understand why many teachers want and insist to call it differently, start to say of Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, therapeutic exercise ... add several theoretical fatiguing perhaps the world say about the Chakra meditation and do not deal with the most beneficial and useful for all, in my opinion, maybe lacking the power yoga , the breathing exercises of yoga.


The clean lines that do is always in my opinion the most appropriate way in life and greater efficiency in the long term up in Marketing.
